Break.
So I took a mini break last week. I will return tonight with the most recent bird. I didn't forget about this blog, no worries.

Bird a Day #16
The tawny frogmouth.
This is one of my husband's favorite birds. I didn't capture their expression as well as I have before so expect him to make another appearance somewhere along the line. An interesting fact about these birds, they have the largest mouths in comparison to their bodies of any bird.

Update.
I'm excited to announce that I just finished scanning in bird #20! I think my favorites so far are in this upcoming group. I hope you're enjoying these birds and if there's a particular bird you would like to see feel free to make suggestions. I know I can't ever run out of birds to draw I just don't always think of them all. :) See you tomorrow with bird #9!
Bird a Day #8
The Lady Ross's Turaco.
I've had a love for this bird ever since I had a way too close encounter with one. At the Denver Zoo, in bird world all sorts of birds are flying and walking around. It's an amazing place to experience gorgeous birds without a cage or glass in front of you. I often spend a lot of time drawing in there (they have a few benches spread throughout the building). One day while I was drawing this bird, he decided to hop onto the bench next to me and proceed to hop closer and closer. Needless to say, it freaked me out and I left rather quickly. But since then I've loved watching these birds (from farther away). Their faces/beaks are rather colorful so maybe at a later date I'll do a colored version.

Bird a Day #1
The Western Meadowlark.
I'm not sure what drew me to this bird. A lot of these are from photos simply because I'm not outside during the day enough to see these guys. So I think it was the yellow that got me excited. I have this tiny sketchbook that I'm drawing these in, probably about 3"x5" and I'm using ballpoint pen and sometimes felt tip pens to add in some color. Now that you have the gist here is the first one.

Back.
Hello blogging world. I've decided to return. Since I've been reading blogs like crazy I've been trying to find inspiration to update my own on a more regular basis. I've started a challenge for myself of drawing a bird a day. Whether that's realistic or more characteristic doesn't matter. I want to draw more and I want to create more, so what better way to do that than to keep a sketchbook. (As you can tell by my blog I'm not very good at keeping a sketchbook either.) I have two birds drawn so far, one for yesterday and one for today. I'm hoping to get a few more before posting them, just so you aren't bored and so I get in a good habit. So hello again! And soon I will post some drawings.
Loves.
